New international airport in Can Tho

After almost five years of construction work, the new international airport in Can Tho was officially opened at the beginning of this year, hoping that it will attract more tourists to the Mekong delta region.

The new terminal is an extension of the regional airport in Tra Noc, where last year a total of about 210,000 passengers were checked through. The new airport was designed for 5 million passengers annually. Currently they mainly fly to targets such as Hanoi, Phu Quoc, Ho Chi Minh City and Con Dao. Additional routes to Singapore, Bangkok, Cambodia and other destinations in South East Asia are being planned.

On the 2,400 meter long and 45 meter wide runway, long-haul aircrafts such as the Boeing 777 are now able to land. The only airline operating here at this stage is Vietnam Airlines. But the airline Jetstar is already planning to offer flights from Can Tho to Hanoi as well.
